Human for Human (H4H) has officially announced the launch of the largest specialized Alliance for the Prevention of Violent Extremism and Community Resilience in Iraq and the region, bringing together 105 civil society organizations representing all Iraqi governorates. The initiative marks a significant milestone in strengthening national coordination, partnership, and collective action to prevent violent extremism and promote sustainable peace.
The Alliance is one of Human for Human’s flagship strategic initiatives, established in recognition of the critical role of civil society in preventing violent extremism through coordinated action, knowledge sharing, and institutional collaboration. By uniting organizations under a common platform, the Alliance aims to enhance collective impact and develop more effective, locally driven responses to the challenges of violent extremism.
The Alliance serves as a national coordination platform that strengthens cooperation among civil society organizations, supports joint programme design and implementation, promotes institutional and technical capacity development, facilitates the exchange of expertise and best practices, and fosters strategic partnerships with government institutions, international organizations, donors, and other key stakeholders.
Through this collaborative framework, the Alliance seeks to empower youth, women, community leaders, and local organizations to play an active role in preventing violent extremism, strengthening social cohesion, encouraging dialogue and peaceful coexistence, and building resilient communities capable of addressing emerging social and security challenges.
Human for Human emphasized that the establishment of the Alliance represents a major step toward reinforcing the role of civil society as a strategic partner in peacebuilding and sustainable development. It also reflects the organization's long-term commitment to creating locally led, sustainable solutions that contribute to safer, more inclusive, and resilient communities across Iraq and the wider region.
