Human for Human Organization (H4H), with funding from the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), has launched a national initiative to support and empower 105 civil society organizations across all Iraqi governorates, as part of efforts to prevent violent extremism, strengthen social cohesion, and build safer and more stable communities.
This initiative reflects the important role of civil society organizations in promoting sustainable peace and reinforcing the values of citizenship and peaceful coexistence through community-based programmes targeting youth, women, and local leaders, while addressing social, economic, and cultural factors that may contribute to violent extremism.
The participating organizations will receive the necessary technical, institutional, and financial support to implement impactful initiatives within their local communities, enhancing their ability to design and deliver effective interventions in the areas of preventing violent extremism, building community resilience, promoting civic participation, and supporting dialogue and social cohesion.
This initiative represents one of the major national efforts to empower civil society organizations, covering all Iraqi governorates and aiming to unify local efforts and strengthen partnerships between civil society, government institutions, and international partners, contributing to sustainable development impact that supports community security and peace.
Human for Human Organization affirmed that investing in the capacities of civil society organizations is a key pillar for building communities capable of addressing challenges, promoting a culture of moderation and tolerance, and advancing sustainable development in line with Iraq’s priorities for stability, peace, and inclusive development.
