On September 5, 2022,
At the office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights in Diwaniyah, and in the presence of the First Deputy Governor of Diwaniyah, Mr. Fares Wannas, Mr. Ayad Al-Mayali, Director of the Organizations Affairs Office at the Governorate Office, Mr. Mohammed Al-Budairi, Director of the Human Rights Commission, Ms. Iman Al-Marabi, Director of the Women's Empowerment Department at the Governorate Office, Mr. Saad Al-Mahna, Director of Youth and Sports, Mr. Asim Abdul Fatis, Director of the Vocational Training Center, Mr. Hussein Alaa Abdul Aoun, Director of Berger Paints Company, Diwaniyah Branch, and a number of officials from partner governmental and non-governmental organizations in the Skills Program,
a ceremony was held to award certificates of completion and start-up materials to participants in the second Decoration and Painting Workshop. This workshop was conducted in cooperation with our private sector partner, Berger Paints Company, which provided training and practical application at the company's work sites and the Vocational Training Center, with the latter playing a supervisory and participating role. Graduation certificates were also awarded to graduates of the Decoration Workshop, the first Dairy Workshop (in cooperation with the Women's Empowerment Department and the Directorate of Youth and Sports), and the second Dairy Workshop (in cooperation with the Women's Empowerment Department).
The ceremony began with a listening session. The ceremony began with the national anthem and a recitation of Surah Al-Fatihah for the martyrs of Iraq. Following this, the organization delivered a speech outlining the main objectives of these courses and workshops, the primary goal of the Skills Program, and the successes achieved thus far. The speech also emphasized the need for government institutions to redouble their efforts to support youth in the professional field and provide job opportunities to bolster the private sector. It further stressed the importance of government agencies and departments developing labor market units within their service providers for young people, integrating the private and public sectors, and providing tangible and noticeable services, particularly economic ones, to job-seeking youth.
The ceremony also included a speech from the Governor of Diwaniyah, delivered by the First Deputy Governor. In his speech, he expressed gratitude to the organization and its partner, GIZ, for the successes achieved in implementing the Skills Program. He also thanked the other private sector companies that contributed to the program's implementation. He highlighted the importance and role of the private sector and the need for government support, as it represents a solution to youth unemployment in the current circumstances, which limit the availability of government jobs due to the large number of unemployed graduates. He asserted that the private sector is no less important, and perhaps even more so, than government employment, especially given that most Successful countries around the world rely on the private sector.
Certificates of completion and start-up materials were distributed to the second decoration and painting workshop, as well as the first and second traditional dairy production workshops, with the participation of most of the officials present at the ceremony. All the young men and women participating in the program expressed their gratitude for the organization's efforts and their strong desire to join the job market. This skills program is implemented by the Human for Human Organization in cooperation with the Private Sector Development and Employment Promotion Project of the German Agency for International Cooperation (GIZ), funded by the European Union and the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ).
